What to Expect at Your Appointment

You may be wondering what you can expect when you visit us, or what kind of questions you will be asked. We are here to help you. Our professional medical staff and mentors are ready to answer your questions and guide you through each step of the process.

Here is what you can expect at your appointment:

You will meet with a medical professional who will get some basic information from you and review all your options regarding your pregnancy. They will also go over resources available to help you with your specific situation and answer any medical questions you may have.

If your pregnancy test is positive, they will perform an ultrasound exam if medically indicated to confirm the pregnancy and determine how far along you are. An ultrasound exam is a quick and safe method of confirming a pregnancy and helps us determine if your pregnancy is viable (the embryo is developing properly in the uterus). If the pregnancy is not viable, an ultrasound can help us diagnose a miscarriage or an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy, which can be life-threatening.

Your mentor will also provide STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) testing information and give you a list of other services we provide if needed.

Please Note: ACPC Women’s Clinic encourages the support of friends an family during your appointment. However, in an effort to comply with HIPPA Privacy Standards and provide the highest quality of care, your initial appointment must be performed without any guests. However, at your request, guests are welcome to join you during your Ultrasound Exam. ACPC Women’s Clinic staff is unable to provide services to patients who choose not to abide by this policy. Thank you for your understanding.
